Bluetooth Speakers — What to Know Before Buying

without comments

Music is an integral part of everyone’s life and there are very few people who do not love music. However, it is not easy to listen to your favorite music all the time anywhere. If your digital music on an MP3 player is connected to a speaker dock solution, you have to get stop what you are doing and get up to change the track. This is no longer a problem, since Bluetooth speakers stream music wirelessly from your music device. Bluetooth technology has made wireless access to songs simple and easy. If your cell phone or mp3 player is equipped with Bluetooth technology, listening to music will become easier than before.

Bluetooth speakers are external wireless speakers that can be connected with your phone, laptop, desktop, iPod, iPhone, Blackberry or any other compatible music player. They are powerful devices that let you listen to your music with greater flexibility. With Bluetooth speakers, you can say ‘goodbye’ to the wires that dangle from the wall or that tie your mp3 player to a docking station. These are static-proof and allow a crystal-clear sound.

If you want to play music using Bluetooth speakers, your MP3 player or phone will have to be equipped with A2DP technology. A2DP stands for Advanced Audio Distribution Profile which allows high quality audio files to flow wirelessly from a Bluetooth device to a Bluetooth speaker set. A2DP encodes the incoming date to a Bluetooth-capable format and then sends a wireless signal to the speakers to play the sound.

Since Bluetooth speakers, like other Bluetooth devices, usually have a 30 feet range, your phone or iPod is not required to be placed anywhere near the speakers. Moreover, the fact that the speakers are wireless makes them portable enough to set up your speaker anywhere you want to. All you need to do is point pair your music device with the speaker and play your favorite music. It is like having a remote control to your whole music library.

Because of their popularity, these speakers are available in a variety of styles and designs. You can go for the compact, portable designed ones that have battery power capabilities or stationary designs that use stereo Bluetooth A2DP technology for transmitting full, stereo sound from your music devices.

There are plenty of advantages to using Bluetooth speakers. Since they are efficient in battery power, they can run for more than a day when fully charged. They can also be used while partying or having other celebrations; because of its slim design, the speakers can be placed anywhere you want to.

However, there are some flipside of the story as well – the range of Bluetooth is pretty limited, meaning that you can only take your player about 30 feet away from the Bluetooth speakers before the connection becomes inconsistent. The major disadvantage is that older iPods do not have built-in Bluetooth, so you will have to make sure you have an iPhone or iPod touch.
